Dental Crowns and Dental Bridges

Our Dentists provides dental crown and dental bridge services for your oral health needs.

What is a dental crown?

A dental crown is used to cover a damaged tooth. A dental crown provides the damaged tooth with structure and support. It also supports the tooth and its alignment with the surrounding teeth. A crown can be placed on top of an implant, or used to cover a tooth that has had a root canal.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge can be used to replace one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge attaches to each of the remaining natural teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth to ‘bridge’ the gap between them. One of the functions of a bridge is to improve chewing. A bridge also functions as a space maintainer, preventing natural teeth from shifting or rotating into the space created by the missing teeth. It is crucial to prevent teeth from shifting into open space as it can lead to problems such as temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) and gum disease.

What materials are dental crowns and dental bridges made from?

Crowns and bridges are made from many different materials, including ceramic, porcelain, gold, metal alloys, and acrylic. At Country Hills Dentistry, our skilled team has extensive experience with crowns and bridges and would be pleased to explain the benefits of each material and help you select the material that is best for you.

Are dental crowns and dental bridges permanent or removable?

Crowns and bridges are not removable, and, with proper care, they can last you a lifetime.

How will I clean a dental crown or dental bridge?

You will clean your crown and bridge just as you normally care for your natural teeth. As with your natural teeth, daily flossing, brushing, regular checkups and professional cleanings are necessary to maintain optimal dental health.
